Hard Knocks Going to Atlanta?
Could HBO’s “Hard Knocks” be going to Atlanta? The Falcons have become strong contenders to host the show and the team would certainly draw much viewership. With a high powered offense that features a Pro Bowl quarterback, running back, tight end and dynamic wide receivers, each game in the very competitive NFC South should prove exciting.
Last year the Atlanta Falcons had all the ingredients to make it to the Super Bowl. They were clearly one of the favorites. Unfortunately the team was eliminated by the hot New York Giants, who eventually went on to win the whole thing. It was just unfortunate that the matchup pit the Falcons against the streaking Giants.
This year the Falcons have under their belt another year of chemistry. Julio Jones, who displayed flashes of brilliance, will no longer have his rookie jitters and should gel much better in the offensive system. Paired with Rodney White, this tandem will be difficult to cover.
An area of improvement that needs to be addressed, probably through the draft, is defense. The Falcons need to be able to apply more pass rush. Strange that this is a weakness for the team considering coach Mike Smith used to be a defensive guru for the much respected and hard hitting Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pick up this upcoming season’s Altlanta Falcon’s games before they sell out. Games should be good and exciting, especially those against division rivals. The emergence of Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will continue to make things interesting and the New Orleans Saints still have Drew Brees.
